Today the youth group went to the temple to do baptisms. They stand in proxy for those who have passed on and were not able to receive this ordinance for themselves. They will still have the choice to receive it or decline it in heaven, but we do the physical work for them since they do not have a body.
Jacob was asked to go as one of the Priesthood holders to perform the baptisms. He loves doing anything with the youth, as he still has friends in the youth group... and he loves going to the Temple. So he said YES, and after a long day of work, he came home, got cleaned up and we all got to go as a family with the youth.
It was Jacob's first time baptizing and as I watched him baptize over and over again... I could just imagine him with the people of Paraguay, bringing them these special essential ordinances for their salvation. Yes, I cried. It was awesome!!
He has now been part of all of the ordinances in the Temple... Sealings were his favorite. Our Temple will be closing next week for a long time (maybe 1-2 years??) for remodeling, so we hope we can continue to go every week with him (or as much as possible). It will just be a small sacrifice and take some preparation for us to drive to Twin Falls (or Seattle).
