We have found www.dearelder.com to be a great way to write a missionary.   It is very efficient and free to the Provo MTC and for pouch mail to the mission where Jacob will be serving.  They do take donations to keep this service up and running.  And we have made such donations as we use it to write cousins and friends in the mission field.
You go to their website and go to select a mission... then click on write letter.  
Here is the Q&A on delivery times...

Q:	What is your delivery schedule like for the MTC and what time of day will my missionary receive his package/letter?
A:	Our daily cut off time for letters and packages to the MTC is 12 noon Mountain Daylight Time, and deliveries are made every afternoon Monday through Friday. We do not deliver on Saturdays & Sundays. Orders and letters received after 12 noon on Friday will be taken the following business day. We are closed on National Holidays and Utah State Holidays. Only district leaders are allowed to check the mail at the MTC. They usually do this twice a day- once in the morning and once in the evening. Our packages and letters are delivered in the early afternoon, so we think most of our deliveries are received by that same evening.

They also deliver care packages and cookies, that I hear are baked and delivered the same day WARM!  I asked Jacob and his favorites would be in the same order, chocolate chip, M&M, and Sugar Cookies (who knew that?  I didn't know my kid liked sugar cookies... what happened to the Macadamia nut white chocolate??? not even my kid... oh well).


I also got a note from a missionary mom that will apply to packages being delivered, I will just share.

I checked to verify with the MTC (Provo, only), and this is their response:

Regarding the Mailroom move to 2M: We will NOT be receiving Local Deliveries during the 3 days we are scheduled to move, Sept. 12, 13, 14th. They will resume their deliveries on Sept. 15th to the Mailroom in 2M. The last day for these deliveries to the 11M Mailroom is Friday, Sept. 9th. Post Mart, (located in the Provo ShopKo center) however, usually delivers on Saturdays because they are so close to the MTC and I believe they will deliver on the 10th. Deliveries MUST be there to their store by 10 AM because they have to be to us by 10:30 AM since we close at 2pm.

We WILL be receiving regular deliveries from the US Postal Service, UPS, and Fed Ex so people can mail through those services. We cannot stop those from coming, even though it will be tricky to see how we are able to process it all as we move locations.
