Well I'll go ahead and get started on our how everything went on getting
here... the flights went well our flight from miami to brazil was a long one and
a little bit of a pain because i was sitting in the back of the plane... so my
seat wouldnt lean back and the lady (no english or spanish) had her seat leaned
all the way back... so yeah hahaha...
(This must be in first class...)
when we got to brazil there were two
americans going to asuncion with us to help us get through brazil and our lack
of portugese... the airport attendent just happened to be the worlds fastest
speed walker and as he was taking us to the gate we almost lost him twice...
when
we finally get to the gate (1 30 min early) they tell us that we cant get
on the plane because they gave our seats away... and that the nest flight would
be in about 7 hours... so we just had to hang out in brazil for way longer than
we wanted... Well God does bless those that serve him... well almost all....
hahah because when he got on the plane to head to paraguay... we started
noticing that 7 out of the ten tickets have executive class on them... i was
lucky enough to be one of those lucky seven sitting in first class although it
was hard to let the others know that we were first class and they were not it
was easy to forget about.... hahaha so nice... i will send pictures later
on...
My new companion is elder N- from heber city...WAY COOL... but before
we met our companions... president Madariaga told us a little about what kind of
areas we could go to... but not telling us which ones we were going to... 2
elders out of 16 (the other six were from latin countries) would be going to the
lejos or sticks bordering the chaco... and that those areas were about 6-8 hours
away (almost every body speaks guarani in those areas mixed in with spanish)...
and all of the other elders would be going to areas around asuncion which were
about 45 minutes max away from the mission office...
(President and Sister Madariaga with Elder Dayley (left) and his Companion Elder N- (right)
all of us were thinking that
they would call the latinos to the lejos and they gringos to asuncion... when
they started to announce who was going were and there companions... they first
lejos was announced Fillidelfia and elder bz- went there...
(left to right... Elder J. from Id too, Elder C., Elder A. Elder Dayley, and Elder B)
And the San
Pedro was announced........... long dramatic pause.... Elder Dayley was
called....
So the area that im in is called San Pedro De Ycuamandyyo and we are
the only two missionaries with in 4-5 hours... our area goes into the Chaco but
there is a River that we are not allowed to cross so we cant go over there....
Im the 10 missionary ever to be in this area... and the First to be trained in
it... it has only been open for 2 years... There are about 20-25 Members here
and only about 15 are active... The people are VERY poor but they have the best
attitudes... I love them so much.... the place we are staying at is really
ghetto and the church is even worse... I will send pictures next time...
We are
having a Baptism this Saturday... and they are going to have me baptize her...
the Font IS A RIVER aahhhh.... So pumped... i will for sure take pictures of
that... the people are VERY HARD to understand they have a thick accent and they
do not pronounce there S´s not to mention they throw in guarani... so i only
understand about 3% of what they say... so i will need to be working on
that...
we only get Mail once every two weeks so sending emails will probably be
the best choice...
the computers here are in spanish so my entire letter is underlined in red
hahaha... so if something is mispelled... im sorry haha
the food so far is really good...i guess in san pedro i shouldnt be eating
anything bad... so im told...hahah
they money is really different... we get 1,000,000 guarani but they go by
mils which is 1,000 guarani... and so my comp told me that a mil is like 25
cents... but everything here is way cheap depending on what you get...
Happy Birthday mom...if you could send all of the family members and there
birthdays that would be wonderful
I love you all so much and i hope to hear from you soon
Love Elder Dayley
