Hey everybody,
How has your week been…
Well this week we had changes again, wowzer the time is flying by…. I only have 2 more changes in the office then president will kick me back out to the field… (changes are 6 weeks, the second one will be Dec 31st)
You can put your money on the Prophet… So we were not sure if Marta and Ricardo had gone to conference but we gave them a call on Tuesday to see if they went, about a month ago she told us that she always had always felt amazing when she went to OTHER churchs but never really felt amazing when she went to ours... any when we called on thursday I talked to Ricardo to plan a visit for Saturday and also i asked him if they went to conference... he told me they went to the one in Asuncion were she lives and that she LOVED it and almost cried, when the Prophet was talking... so it looks like things will be going down sometime this month…. Tomorrow were going ove and putting a fecha for the 27th of October
And Arnulfo had some hidden doubts so we are going to have to postpone his Baptism a bit
Monday
We went to the south mission and got there van because we had 16 elders come into the mission this change and we can only fit 12 legally in our van hahaha
Tuesday
Elder Prete and I took the asistentes to the Airport and we went to go pick up the new Elders with President… while we were waiting a famous soccer star named Lucas Barrios came and it was a mad house with people trying to talk to him…
We met the newbies then we were walking out to the car and as we leave the doors of the airport It was like a cement wall of Hot air hit them… Elder Miner and I were walking infront and we could hear them saying… ¨AHHHH WOW THIS IS TERRIBLE… Hey elders is this hot to you guys¨… elder miner and I look at each other and start laughing cause we just started Spring here and its only 90° degrees and to us it feels great...
And then Tuesday night we took the newbies to the Moroni Chapel which is right next to the temple, Because the Assistants were having a baptism and we thought that would be great for them to see which it was…
Wednesday
Elder Wing, and I took the Newbies to cerro Lambare again along with the Hermana Madariaga… and the Hermana rode with me… so we had a nice discussion in the car and it was super cool to hear her story
One thing that we were also able to do was tell them the story of the Hill
It’s the tallest point in Asuncion, where you can get a great view of the city, and learn an interesting lesson on indigenous history in Paraguay. El Cerro Lambare is a monument dedicated to an indian chief from the 1500′s. While other tribal leaders and Paraguay’s Spanish government lived in harmony, Lambare and his tribe fought with the spanish. He lost two big battles with them in 1539 and 1541 near the hill where his monument now stands. After the last battle, he was captured and brought to the center of Asuncion, where the Spanish forced him to his knees. However, he refused to bow down to anyone except his tribal god. So the spanish killed him by hanging him in the center of Asuncion. Lambare became a hero for indigenous generations to come, as the chief who would rather die than bow down to foreigners who wanted to enslave his people…
I really love this story cause it shows a sacrifice that Lambare had to make…
Thursday
We took the dead Elders to the temple and then to Paulistas(tuccanos) and it was super fun… "Dead Elders" are those who have completed a two year mission and are going home :)
RIP Elder Packard, Lived with him for 3 weeks was my ZL (zone leader) for one change then We worked a lot together in the office for another 2.5 changes… Elder Packard is an example for me… I love him so much and will miss him… We had some great times together(Going the Back way Home (Limpio))… and he has taught me a lot of things… when we went to the temple I got to sit by him… I had learned something early in the session about the principle of sacrifice…
In the Pearl of great price(I think,) an angel visits adam and asks him why are you making sacrifices… adams response was I don’t know, all I know is that I was commanded to do so…
Then after the session elder Packard and I were talking and he was talking to me about somethings he had learned and sacrifice was one of them… and that the Lord is asking us to make sacrifices in our lives, we don’t need to know the importance of it or why we need to sacrifice somethings but we just need to do it…
Lambare was a man who made a sacrifice, although he may not have wanted to have his life taken away he did it because he needed to stand up for what he belived in… and sacrificed his life…
I love you all so much i hope you have a great week Love elder Dayley
